What is ‘Yoga’?

Yoga is a movement meditation. It is an amazing method for achieving holistic health and wellbeing while enhancing strength, fitness and flexibility. Yoga originated in India but its influences have spread across the globe. Yoga aims to bring union to body, mind and soul, thus promoting holistic health. The great yogic sage Patanjali provided a guide to the practice of Yoga in the Yoga Sutras. In these ancient texts he described 8 limbs of yoga: yamas (restraints), niyamas (observances), asana (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), pratyhara (sensory withdrawal), dharana (concentration), dyhana (meditation), samadhi (enlightenment).

In classes at YOUR YOGA SPACE the main focus is on asana/ postures, however, there is an attempt to touch on all of the aspects described by Sri Patanjali.

Yoga can be more than an amazing work out; it is a methodology that provides the practitioner with coping skills for a demanding world.
