"I first experienced yoga as a child when I joined my mother at her weekly class. Then I turned to yoga more seriously in my teens as a method to improve my ill health. After seeing how yoga has transformed every aspect of my own life, in the most unforeseen ways, I was compelled to share and teach. Originally training in South Africa as a Hatha, Vinyasa and Children’s yoga teacher and then in India as a yoga Therapist, I have immersed myself in yogic study and practise. I have strong influences from numerous yoga schools (local and international) including Viniyoga, Iyengar, Svastha (Krishnamacharya), Anusara, Kundalini, Jivamukti, Tibetan Heart and Forrest yoga. After studying psychology and working as a psychometrist, I have a particular focus on individual development and growth. Believing yoga, spirituality and psychology to be a powerful combination for living a healthy and balanced life, I hope to support each individual’s unique journey in a caring and compassionate way while moving them closer to actualization. My own spiritual journey has led me to believe that the Guru can be found within us all, and I endeavour to empower people to meet their own inner teacher. Om Mani Padme Hum." Catherine’s method of teaching has evolved into a unique style which focuses on teaching rather than instructing. She is known for classes that are suitable for individuals at all levels: providing variety and challenge for those looking to enhance their practice and simple easy to follow instructions for beginners. She has developed her own style of yoga known as Journey Yoga which combines her psychological background and yogic knowledge; taking you on a physical, emotional and spiritual journey. Catherine continues her studies in Yoga Therapy with Shri A.G. Mohan, Indra Mohan and Ganesh Mohan, sathirthyas of Shri T Krishnamacharya (the father of modern yoga).
